Tunnel Structure Study

GARNAULT has extensive experience in all aspects of underground works, from the design and construction of tunnels and shafts, through to underground powerhouse caverns and structures. These services may be applied to a broad range of projects, including:

• road and rail

• water supply and wastewater • sewerage and drainage • hydroelectric and energy • irrigation • mining

GARNAULT offers full tunnel capabilities, including: project feasibility, planning, surveying, design (concept through to detailed), project management, tender and contract management, construction supervision, and institutional strengthening. These capabilities extend across a range of soil and rock types, including soft and hard ground, for both tunnels and underground space developments. GARNAULT has been involved in tunnel projects ranging from 1.2 m in diameter, through to major underground caverns. Excavation methods include conventional drill and blast; and mechanical methods using tunnel boring machines, road headers, pipe jacking and shaft-raising plant. GARNAULT’s experience in conventional methods of excavation, coupled with the use of modern technology and state-of-the-art tunneling techniques, ensures that GARNAULT provides the most appropriate technical input for every project.
